Dr. Terri Janke, a Wuthathi, Yadhaigana, and Meriam woman, is a Solicitor Director and international authority on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP). She is known for pioneering pathways for collaborations using Indigenous knowledge and cultural expression.

As the founder and Solicitor Director of Terri Janke and Company (TJC), the oldest First Nations-owned law firm in Australia, Dr. Janke advises on ICIP, intellectual property, business law, shareholder agreements, and governance of Indigenous organisations. She developed the True Tracks® ICIP Framework, a widely accepted best practice for managing Indigenous engagement, and authored the award-winning book True Tracks: Working with Indigenous Knowledge and Culture.

Dr. Janke has received multiple awards, including the 2020 JG Crawford Prize for academic excellence for her PhD thesis, the Indigenous Business Leader Award in 2019, and NAIDOC Person of the Year in 2011.

She chairs the Independent Review into ABC Systems to support staff experiencing racism and serves on several key committees, including the Indigenous Working Group on ICIP Legislation, the Temporary Advisory Group to the Minister on AI laws, and the First Nations Economic Empowerment Alliance. She also advised Ambassador Mohammed on the WIPO International Instrument on Traditional Knowledge and Genetic Resources.
