Queensland Government
The Queensland Government is dedicated to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and inspiring future First Nations business leaders. Recognising their crucial role in the state’s economy, they provide resources to help Indigenous people start, run, and grow their businesses.
They support the establishment of the Queensland Indigenous Business Network (QIBN), an independent organisation led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to assist First Nations-owned small businesses. Additionally, their ‘Paving the Way – First Nations Training Strategy’ focuses on skills development, addressing local training and employment needs, and enhancing the capabilities of Indigenous small businesses. Principal Indigenous Program Officers are also available in each region to offer tailored support.
The Queensland Government also backs ventures in tourism, arts, and cultural industries, preserving Indigenous heritage while boosting economic benefits for communities. Through these initiatives, they demonstrate their commitment to fostering economic inclusion and contributing to the prosperity of Indigenous communities across the state.
