Killara Services
Jasmine Newman, a proud Wiradjuri woman with ties to the Dharug community, is the Managing Director of Killara Services, Australia's largest Aboriginal cleaning company. In 2022, she was honoured with the Indigenous Businesswoman of the Year Award at the Connect 2022 Supplier Diversity Awards for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the Indigenous business sector.
Jasmine's commitment is rooted in a family legacy of advocacy spanning over fifty years. Her great-grandfather, Herbert 'Bert' Groves, was a notable Aboriginal activist who fought for equal access to education and employment for Aboriginal Australians. Inspired by Bert, Jasmine continues his mission by creating sustainable employment opportunities through Killara Services.
Under Jasmine's leadership, Killara Services prioritises Indigenous employment, embodying a vision of empowerment and community support. The company has received numerous accolades, and this year is nominated as a finalist for the Certified Supplier of the Year Award and the Sam Tjengala Reuben Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Supplier Diversity Awards.
Jasmine Newman's leadership fosters positive change and creates opportunities for future generations of Indigenous Australians, honouring her family's legacy and paving the way for continued progress within Indigenous communities.
