Cameron Costello is a Quandamooka man from Moreton Bay with connections to the Githabul People in NSW. He graduated from Griffith University with a degree in Leisure Management, and serves on the University of Queensland's Law and Tourism Advisory Boards. With extensive experience in the legal industry and government roles, he has delivered significant First Nations policies and programs, including the Backing Indigenous Arts Program and the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.
Cameron is the former CEO of the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC), overseeing the Quandamooka Festival and managing national parks and Aboriginal-owned campgrounds on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and Mulgumpin (Moreton Island). As Deputy Chair of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, he contributed to the Queensland First Nations Tourism Plan, Destination IQ, and the Year of Indigenous Tourism.
Cameron has undertaken First Nations strategy projects for Tourism Events Queensland, Tropical Tourism North Queensland, and Screen Queensland. He currently advises the Queensland Government on the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Committee, Queensland Workforce Roundtable, Premiers Leadership Forum, and Arts Queensland First Nations Arts and Cultural Panel. Since 2019, Cameron has participated in Queensland Government and Austrade international delegations advocating for First Nations economic advancement, including capacity-building efforts in Papua New Guinea supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
